Set near Salzburg’s Kapuzinerberg, Drei Kreuz is a small, family-run property located on the eastern banks of the Salzach river, situated close to the city’s Mirabell Palace. Drei Kreuz has 24 simple guest rooms and boasts a mix of singles, doubles and triples plus larger quadruple units. All rooms en-suite and have Wi-Fi and cable TVs. In addition to the usual check-in duties, this property’s reception team is happy to offer assistance with local directions and nearby points of interest as well as car hire. Guests can enjoy a traditional Austrian breakfast buffet for an additional fee, but Bella Vita, the restaurant located adjacent to this hotel, serves an eclectic range of Italian, Indian, Pakistani and Middle Eastern cuisine. For traditional Austrian options, guests can head to Fuxn Salzburger Volkswirtschaft. Local bus connections offer guests good access to the sights of Salzburg’s Alstadt, including city’s cathedral and the Hohensalzburg Castle.

The overall standard of housekeeping here is highly praised, with most guests taking the time to appreciate the cleanliness of their rooms. The large units at this family-run property were also routinely lauded; indeed, these spacious rooms proved to make this hotel very popular with families on holiday.
While not set right in the heart of Salzburg's old town area, this property does afford easy access to some of the city's most famous sights via a short, ten-minute walk. Those who preferred to explore the area via public transport were pleased to find that this property is set close to a bus stop.Finally, those new to the city were truly impressed by this hotel's staff. In addition to being friendly and polite, the reception team here went out of their way to impress guests with their wealth of local knowledge.
While not included in the room fee, guests were more than happy to pay a bit extra for what was deemed to be a very impressive breakfast buffet. The sheer variety of drinks, meats, cheeses and pastries was noted and appreciated.
These rooms do not have air conditioning and this did prove to be problematic in the warmer months. Units heated up rather quickly, especially in the higher-capacity triples and quads.
Rooms here are very basic and the lack of any amenities - especially a kettle - was noticeable.
Those hoping to be in the heart of Salzburg were left very disappointed by the location of this property, which required either a short walk or bus ride to reach the main sights.
