Positive Reviews

Clean dorms suitable for backpackers

The hostel features clean dormitories which come equipped with useful features, according to reviews. Guests are surprised with the level of cleanliness, reporting that dorms are free of dust and dirt. Meanwhile, the inclusion of secure lockers, USB chargers, electric sockets, and reading lights prove handy for backpackers and those staying for a prolonged period.

On-site bar serving good food

The hostel features its own restaurant-bar, a facility that proves popular with guests. Reviewers enjoy the laid-back and friendly atmosphere and point out that the food and drink on offer is tasty and reasonably priced.

Handy location near Haymarket

Travellers report that the hostel makes for a convenient spot from which to explore Edinburgh. The local neighbourhood offers a selection of convenience stores and eateries, while Haymarket railway station is less than ten minutes’ walk away. Edinburgh’s Old Town, meanwhile, is a pleasant stroll or short bus trip away.

Negative Reviews

Triple bunks leave little headroom

Each dorm at the hostel is fitted with triple-decker bunk beds. Guests report that these bunks have less vertical space between than traditional two-bed bunks, leaving little headroom and sitting up impossible. Reviews state that a bump on the head almost proves inevitable.

Smaller dorms lack space

The hostel’s smaller dorms, those that feature six or ten berths, are reported to be more cramped than their larger counterparts. Travellers staying in these smaller accommodations complain that there is little to no room to manoeuvre, especially when all beds are booked.

Bathroom complaints

Travellers staying in larger dorms must make use of shared shower and toilet facilities, an arrangement that leads to complaints. Guests suggest that there simply are not enough facilities for the number of occupants, and the hot water often runs out.
