The location of the hotel is excellent. It is right in the centre of town, making it very convenient for all manner of shops, bars and restaurants. The bus station is nearby too, as is the railway station. There are several places of interest just a short walk away.
Although the reception is located in another building a few minutes up the road, the staff there are really friendly and accommodating. They will go out of their way to make sure you are having an enjoyable stay.
The reception isn't actually at Peregrine House, but at The Castle House Hotel, which is about a five minute walk up the road. This can be something of a pain, particularly if you then have to carry all of your luggage back to the building in which you are staying. Breakfast is also served in the other property, which, again, can be annoying, especially if it's raining.
Because the building is old, there is no lift and getting to some of the rooms involves a number of stairs. If you aren't very mobile, you might find it difficult.
While guestrooms are comfy, a few of them are quite tiny. Some of the beds are pretty narrow too.
